8 Ways to Stay in Touch With Your Friends After College

Gone are the days of living in the same apartment or dorm room as all of your friends, or having them live a short distance away. Everyone has gone their separate ways to jobs, grad school, internships, their parents’ house, etc. In this day and age, it’s pretty easy to stay in touch with the people who probably saw you at your worst (and probably your best too.)

1. Group Texts. And on the third day, God created the group text. As much as you probably hate your phone blowing up 80 times a day for messages that probably don’t even pertain to you, how great is it that you can talk to all your friends at any time of day? No coordinating FaceTime sessions or phone calls, texts can be sent and received (and ignored) at all times.

2. Weddings. When you make friends in college, make sure they are at various stages of relationships as to make the most of weddings. This way, weddings will be spread out at regular intervals and you’ll be able to see your friends all in one place at least once a year. You’ll then be able to dress up, have some beers, relive the good old days and celebrate the friend or friends who have their lives together.

3. Bachelorette parties. See above. Except the wedding hasn’t happened yet.

4. Annual or semi-annual get-togethers. Pick a spot that’s equidistant from everyone (or most everyone) and plan a weekend of hang time. It could include activities (wine tour, anyone?), a vacation or just piling into one of your apartments for some catch-up time.

5. Camping trip. See above, but you’ll be roughin’ it in the woods. Campgrounds are cheaper than hotels. S’mores please.

6. Reunions or alumni events. Instead of reminiscing about how great your college was, why not GO there? Pick a weekend, head back to school, and have a hangover brunch in the dining hall.

7. Pinterest-y inspired crafts. Remember how cool it was to get snail mail? Get out your glitter and construction paper and make your friends some handmade cards. Write them a letter and seal it with a kiss. XOXO, Gossip Girl.

8. Time travel. Okay, so this one isn’t quite realistic, but how great would it be to just go back to those four college years? It’s 2015. How has this technology not been invented yet?
